Number of pupils (FTE) 161

Percentage of pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) 21.1%

These figures indicate that 34 of the 161 children on role recieve free meals at Holt Primary School (figures are for January 2011). A good indicator of poverty.

This is very close to the 24% quoted recently in the press – for the current figure of children living in poverty in Holt.

Not all those eligible do claim free school meals for their children – some parents are put off by all the forms and scrutiny, whilst others are simply too proud to admit to being poor. So could the problem actually be a lot worse?
